Jay Leno, host of the Tonight Show for twenty-two years, graciously congratulated his future replacement, Jimmy Fallon, on the show the other day. Jimmy Fallon will take over as The Tonight Show host in Spring of 2014 and has been the host of “Late Night” for four years.
The Tonight Show began in 1954 and has always been a mainstay of television and the network. Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien have been hosts of the Tonight Show and Carson was the host for thirty years. The executive producer of the Tonight Show has said that Jimmy Fallon is “the closest thing” this generation has to Carson, so we wish the 38 year old Fallon well and we shall all soon see if Jimmy can round up the ratings. Jimmy Fallon won a 2013 Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album, entitled “Blow Your Pants Off”. Jimmy won over other Grammy Nominees, Ellen Degeneres, Kathy Griffin and Jim Gaffigan. At 62, Jay Leno has done an excellent job as host for 22 years and at the end of this March, the Tonight Show hit a seven-week high with 3.52 million viewers watching. We’ve had the pleasure of booking Jay Leno about seven or eight times and it’s always a delight to work with him. For a Hollywood star, Jay Leno is humble and very friendly and personable. For instance, at an event, we had to cut through
the kitchen to get to the backstage of a hotel ballroom. Jay shook hands, signed autographs, and posed for photos with any of the kitchen and wait staff who spoke with him.
Our lead booking agent, Mari Sanders, got to introduce her mother to Jay Leno at a corporate event. When her mother asked for an autograph, Jay asked, “So do you watch my show?” Her nervous mom said, “No, but don’t you worry, I don’t watch that other guy’s either.” Jay just laughed, escorted her to the meet and greet with the corporate officers, and affectionately called her “Mom” the rest of the evening.
At a charity fundraiser one time, the clients were auctioning off Jay’s autograph for $1,000.00 each. The people in charge tried to bring the event to a close, saying ‘Sorry that’s all he can do’. Jay replied, “That’s okay, I don’t have to leave, and if these folks are willing to contribute to this great charity, I’ll be happy to sign my name all night.” So, we’ve always seen that Jay Leno is an unpretentious, charming, and generous celebrity.

Dancing with the Knoxville Stars fifth annual fundraiser is Friday, March 22 at the Knoxville Expo Center. Local radio station Star 102.1 sponsors the fundraising event which features local celebrities performing a variety of dancing styles with a professional dancer from Academy Ballroom. The event raises money for the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Funny Comedian Leanne Morgan is one of the 2013 Celebrity Dancers. Leanne Morgan was going to participate last year, but she was busy working on a television comedy-pilot program.

Bob Newhart still performs in comedy concerts, opting to continue live performances before sellout audiences all over the country and the world. With routines created by Newhart from today’s newspapers in his unique style, and some of his early classic routines (which audiences demand he perform), he is garnering critical raves and pleasing audiences at the same time.
Bob Newhart is known for his deadpan delivery and a slight stammer which he incorporated into the persona around which he built a very successful career. On his television shows, he got his share of funny lines, but he often worked in the Jack Benny tradition of being the “straight man” while the somewhat bizarre cast members surrounding him got the laughs.
Some of Bob Newhart’s routines involve hearing one half of a conversation as he speaks to someone over the telephone. For instance, in a skit called King Kong, a rookie security guard at the Empire State Building seeks guidance as to how to deal with an ape who is “18 to 19 stories high, depending on whether we have a 13th floor or not”. He assures his boss he has looked in the guards manual under ‘ape’ and ‘ape’s toes.
Some of Bob Newhart’s other famous routines include “The Driving Instructor,” “The Mrs. Grace L. Ferguson Airline (and Storm Door Company)”, “Introducing Tobacco To Civilization”, “Abe Lincoln vs. Madison Avenue,” “Defusing a Bomb” (in which an uneasy security division commander tries to walk a new and nervous security guard through defusing a live shell discovered on a California beach), “The Retirement Party,” “A Neighbour’s Dog,” “Ledge Psychology,” and “The Khrushchev Landing Rehearsal.”

MAYBERRY TRIBUTE SHOW Another successful booking!
We had another successful event booking Barney Fife impersonator Sammy Sawyer and The Mayberry Tribute Show for a large health services corporate client. The audience laughed and laughed and had a great time enjoying the comedy and musical show of these excellent impersonators and look-alikes.
Memories of Andy and Opie walking down to the lake with their fishing rods came flooding back when the audience heard the well-known, whistling theme song to The Andy Griffith Show.
Sammy Sawyer stars as Deputy Barney Fife and many characters from Mayberry perform comedy skits from the show, and sing to the music of The Darlings. Otis the drunk, Rafe Hollister the boot-legger, Ernest T. Bass, and Floyd the barber all perform. Comedian Phil Campbell, (son of the legendary Archie Campbell from Hee-Haw) tells jokes and emcess the show by introducing the characters and setting up their skits. 
The show was performed at the Tennessee Theater and the corporate client was thrilled with the excellent skits from the popular TV series and the outstanding bluegrass music of The Darlings. Sammy Sawyer also does an excellent impression of Deputy Barney Fife.
