Funny ventriloquist Tawanna Kelly, is a native of Bath, SC and currently resides in Augusta, GA. She and her puppet pal JOY have been performing across the country extensively for over 25 years, sharing the message of unity, love, and inspiration to audiences of all ages.
She and her Puppet Pal JOY have made several television appearances on major networks, NBC, ABC, IMPACT and BET Apollo Live/Bobby Jones Gospel Presents, concert openings for various Gospel artists like Vickie Wynans, Beverly Crawford, and Marvin Sapp.
Joy is not Kelly’s only puppet. Among the others are a country girl named Shelby, a skateboarder named Sid, and a sunglass-wearing dog named Mr. Cool. “Mr. Cool is popular with my little, little kids,” Kelly said. “They like to pet him.” With Shelby, Kelly teaches about good nutrition and health.
“My platform is to do comedy, be clean, and have a good message,” Kelly said. “It doesn’t matter what denomination you are, you can relate to my shows. I’ve been exposed to all of it.”
Tawanna Kelly also has over 15 years experience in Theatrical Arts as an actress performing on stages large and small for audiences and congregations. Casted as (Deloris) a leading role in the hit play entitled “No Time to Lose” by Gerald Scott, Tawanna portrays an urban wife and mother of a troubled teen that made some bad choices that led to suicide. Currently, Tawanna is part of the cast of a hit stage play entitled “When the Church Doors Close” by Molate’ Productions. Casted as Cheryl Stokes, a mad black woman scorned and out to get revenge on the first lady and the deacon that left her to raise her son alone. In the movie “A Cry on the Rocks” by Reginald Freeman, Kelly played the pastor’s wife, Helen, who has two young adult daughters that choose different paths as a result of the pastor’s busy schedule for ministry that leads to a tragic ending for his family.
Tawanna Kelly has traveled the country for over 25 years promoting love, unity and laughter. Tawanna says, “The art of ventriloquism has given me a platform to reach others and inspire youth to be champions and win big in life.
