Some of us had the pleasure of enjoying The Wendel Werner Band at an Old City venue, in Knoxville a few weekends ago. This is an extremely talented group that sings new and old favorites in unique and beautiful ways. Led by Wendel Werner, the quartet sings Wendel’s arrangements of top pop music hits like you’ve never heard them before. You and your audience are sure to enjoy the show by these truly gifted musicians and singers!
Wendel Werner is a pianist, singer, and musician whose musical abilities cover a broad spectrum, and encompass most every musical genre – jazz, rock, pop, and classical. Wendel studied music with renowned musicians like Jerry Cocker, and former Jazz Messenger, Donald Brown and Wendel has opened for Herbie Hancock, Tuck & Patti, and Tony Bennett. Wendel Werner is one of music’s remaining Renaissance men and with his unique arrangements; his compositions are works of art!

Danielle Madison is a jazz vocalist, composer, arranger, and music instructor. Ms. Madison’s music combines numerous studies, styles, and genres. She was a member of the all-female a cappella jazz choir, “Just in Time” while still in high school. She obtained a music degree from the University of North Texas (UNT) studying jazz theory, history, and improvisation, as well as being a member of the world-renowned UNT Jazz Singers. Danielle has taught at the Music Conservatory of Texas and currently teaches private voice and piano in association with Knox Music Studios. She can be found on Sunday mornings working as the music director for the contemporary services at Faith Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Katy Free started singing in church when she was four, which became a stepping-stone into roles in numerous musicals at her high school and in the community. While studying musicology at the University of Tennessee, her voice teacher contacted jazz writer and performer, Wendel Werner and suggested a meeting. As a result, Ms. Free began touring and singing gigs with Mr. Werner almost immediately. In addition to being a member of the Wendel Band, she also fronts the “Katy Free Three” and is a featured singer in the contemporary services at Concord United Methodist Church on Sunday mornings. As if this isn’t enough of a busy schedule, Katy is starting the pursuit of her masters degree in the Fall of 2012.
Grace Partin, is originally from Brentwood, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville. Grace was not only was singing at the early age of five, but by high school repeatedly had the lead in every school and community musical production. A voice major at the University of Tennessee, she became a member of the UT Singers and UT’s jazz choir, a position she held for four years. She is also employed as a featured singer in the choral department of Concord United Methodist Church. Influenced by musicians like Billy Joel, Paul Simon, and Ella Fitzgerald, she finds herself striving for the same excellence in her performances and musical endeavors. As a result, she has her own thriving music studio and she will be finishing her music degree in the Spring of 2013.

Excellent band! I’ve seen them and really like Wendel Werner and his band. Wendel is a wizard on the piano and they all sing so beautifully! It’s a great show and I highly recommend everyone see them perform.
